This is my 5th year in 4H, and I chose a steer, heifer and lamb project to continue learning about raising a market animals. I enjoy the friendly competition at our Achievement Day Show. I joined 4-H when I was 9 years old, because I wanted to try something new and work with others. I am staying in 4H as I have made a lot of friends and enjoyed showing and clipping my calves. I enjoy feeding and training the calves to take to our show.
When I first got my calf he was crazy and he would not let anyone near him. When I came home from school I decided to start trying to work with him everyday, so he would settle down, the more I started working with him the calmer he got. In about a week I was able to walk up to my calf without him trying to run away. He wasn't a fan of me leading him though because he didn't want to leave his buddies. Now he walks beside me not always trying to run away from me but likes to have the odd jump and kick.
You will also see in the market animal listing that I have a lamb project that will be selling in the sale as well.
I am glad I was able to participate in the Peace Country Beef Congress Heifer Show in January in Dawson Creek as this gave me an opportunity to take my female project out and show her. I am happy to have had that opportunity now that we are unable to have our own Achievement Day Show.
With Public Speaking I got second in the intermediate level, it was a three way tie and we had to do a tie breaker impromptu and I ended up second. My speech was about fires all around the world but mainly the Australian fires.
I encourage buyers to join our online sale this year through a timed auction and hope you enjoy the animals we have for our sale. I would also like to "Thank" all past buyers and sponsors that have continued supporting 4H.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions at 780-228-7635.
Thank you
